Appearances itself covers a countless amounts of things like physical characteristics, posture, movements, tone of voice, the smile, hygiene, and numerous other things. Every human in the world has their own appearance. The reason is that they need to be a successful person, to reach good things in life. However, the exterior perception that make about a person sometimes is not a proper opinion. The story â€Å"The Temp† by Amelia Kahaney, presents an Asian woman with an enviable appearance, having everything that a woman may want, however appearances are not all ways true. Another is the Film Edward Scissorhands by Tim Burton, who presents a younger boy that had an unusual and strange aspect, also the people whispered horrible and frightening things to him, but they did not know about his big heart. The image that a person gives in the moment of the meeting is of vital importance. For any interview people should be dressed appropriate and respectful, because most people use more the sense of sight than the ear. In â€Å"The Temp† Karen the principal character was the beautiful Asian woman with a perfect sophistication. At the moment when she came to the office her first impression was excellent for mates who went to work with her. They admire the temp from the moment they saw her. Even in the moment when Karen said the first words, they thought that she was a wonderful woman. She talked and French-inhaled simultaneously and it made her look smart† (Kahaney 293). Also, when Karen smoked she was envied. She was a very astute woman. She had the ability to convince people; all that she said anyone believe it. â€Å"She made us feel like better people than we actually were† (Kahaney 296). Then, after a week Karen was ready to leave the office. Her coworkers were very sad that she had to go. They believed that she was perfect and very smart to leave this job. However, they observed that she was stealing office supplies in her purse. â€Å"Things are not always as they seem; the first appearance deceives many† (Phaedrus). Finally, they realized that she was the opposite of her appearance. After that, they tried to find other ways to get better jobs, always remembering all the things that she said. In Edward Scissorhands the film by Tim Burton, he presents a strange and ghoulish young man who lived in a place very frightening that was isolated from the external world. Edward, who had scissors instead of hands, was not a monster but neither a human being. However, the most important thing was that he had kindness and a big heart. Edward was totally pure, with an incredible innocence. As a consequence to his innocence, bad and immoral people took advantage of him; he was used like an object. They used Edward to enter to a strange house with the purpose to steal, because of actions like that; innocence is lost and good people changed for the worse â€Å"All things truly wicked start from innocence† (Hemingway). In these two stories Karen and Edward were very different. People should realize just how important and real appearances can be. Karen a beautiful woman, envied for all coworkers but she became a thief of simple things. And Edward a young man that that with his looks caused terror and fear. But he was very different than what his appearance showed. Besides he had pure and sincere feelings of love. People should take in mind how important we are to God and not think about other people as much. â€Å"Lord seeth  not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord  looketh on the heart†. (Holy Bible 1. Samuel 16:7) Unfortunately we live in a world where physical appearance has great importance. The society is a factor that marks fashion and beauty stereotypes that does not correspond to reality. That makes numerous people feel not at ease with those models that society imposes. For this reason many young people try to change their appearance and make bad choices just to feel as a perfect person. People should always try to look their best, however we should never change who we really are just for our appearances. Besides, people should show who they truly are and must act according to their own values, without having to like the whole world. Also, people should not criticize just by the way someone looks because they may be very different in the inside. The world needs to accept everyone for who they really are inside and not just for what they wear.
